A competent user creates only complex passwords when registering on sites. But the more complex the password, the easier it is to forget it. If this happens, use the special recovery form.
Instructions
Step 1
Follow the link on the website, which is titled "Forgot your password?" or similar.
Step 2
Enter your username, email address, or a combination of both (depending on the site). If necessary, enter the captcha as well.
Step 3
Click on the continue button (this button may have different names on different sites).
Step 4
Wait for the page to load, stating that a password recovery message has been sent to your email inbox. If it turns out that you entered something, for example, captcha, is incorrect, repeat the operation.
Step 5
Go to your email inbox and check if the message has arrived. If it is not there, wait a while, which can range from several minutes to several days. Reload the page periodically.
Step 6
Do not forget to check the mailbox folder for suspicious messages (spam) - a password recovery message may appear there as well.
Step 7
After receiving a message, your further actions depend on its content. If it contains a new password, enter the site using it, and then immediately change to another, also complex. Remember it well this time. If the message contains a link, click on it. Come up with a new complex password, enter it (two times if necessary). If there is a captcha, enter it as well. Then press the button for saving the information.
Step 8
To check if you remember your new password well, log out and log back in. Try different mnemonic techniques to remember your password. For example, the password zcprgT can be remembered as "hares jump high" (the word "high" here means that the last letter of the password is capitalized).
Step 9
Remember that even a complex password is useless if you carelessly ensure its safety. Do not store it in files located on local disks of your computer, on papers available to your colleagues. Set a strong password not only on the sites you use, but also in your mailbox. Enter a chaotic character set as the answer to your mailbox password recovery security question.
