Over time, any disk that is actively used ceases to be readable. To extend the life of CD / DVD discs, programs are used to create their images (exact copies). Sometimes it happens that the disk images can be hard to read, in this case it is recommended to use special programs to restore their vital activity.
Necessary
Dvdisaster software
Instructions
Step 1
Use Dvdisaster to recover disk images. It allows you to completely restore the work of corrupted images, if possible. The utility can be downloaded from the following link https://dvdisaster.net/ru/download.html. This software is completely free and open source, and it works with many modern operating systems.
Step 2
After installing and launching it, you need to go to the settings window, the call button of which is in the upper right corner. Go to the "Image" tab. To fix reading errors when creating an image, select the ISO / UDF item in the "Image size" section, in other cases it is worth choosing ECC / RS02. In the "Imaging" section, select "Responsive (for damaged media)".
Step 3
Go to the "Drive" tab. The optimal settings are set in this tab, but in the section "Prepare the drive" the value of the "Wait" option can be changed to 5.
Step 4
Go to the "Attempts to read" tab. Here activate the option "Read and analyze unprocessed sectors" by moving the slider of the last parameter, set the value = 128.
Step 5
Go to the "Files" tab. If you are using operating systems, the system partition of which belongs to the FAT32 file system, activate the "Split files into segments" option in the "Local files" section. After setting all the parameters, insert the disc, the image of which you want to restore, and wait for it to spin up completely in the drive.
Step 6
In the main window of the program, select the drive with which you will work by clicking on the triangle next to the disk image. To start the disc read operation, click the "Read" button. If there is enough data to restore the image, a corresponding inscription will appear on the screen, as a rule, the display of disk sectors should be completely green.
Step 7
When red sectors appear and an inscription that warns of a lack of green sectors appears, recovery will be impossible, i.e. to restore the image, you will need additional information, for example, an unreadable completely original disc. To complete the operation, click the "Fix" button.
Step 8
After the recovery is complete, the new image must be copied to a different directory and / or written to a blank disk.
