Hubs are needed for more than just connecting computers directly. It is also a powerful file sharing tool as well as a user-friendly online chat. It is not surprising that some of the visitors to file sharing sites, one way or another, begin to think about creating their own hub.
Instructions
Step 1
Before starting the process of creating your own hub, decide on its name, which should be memorable so that both you and your future visitors will recognize it. Once the name has been found, go to the Dynamic DNS website and register with one of the servers no-ip.com or dyndns.org.
Step 2
After you get a nice, easy-to-remember hub address, download a special server program. It will run on your computer and connect to the remote server. In most cases, a small 1MB program PtokaX is used to create hubs, which does not require any special knowledge of installation.
Step 3
Launch the PtokaX program and configure it to work. Leave most of the settings as default, with the exception of three items. Enter the name of the hub in the “Hub name” column. In the “Hub Address” column, enter the IP address of the hub that you received on the Dynamic DNS website. In the column "Nickname in the admin's chat" enter the nickname that you will use for conversations in the "Users" - "Chat" menu.
Step 4
Click on the "Apply" button, and then on the "Launch hub" function. Thus, you activate the created hub.
Step 5
Check the operation of your hub. To do this, open DC ++, the client for the Direct Connect network, and go to the settings menu. Add the address of the created hub, click on the "Connect" button, and you will find yourself on the page of your hub.
Step 6
Do not forget that it is not enough just to create your own file hosting service and wait for the appearance of visitors. It is necessary to take active steps to attract users to your hub, because no one except you knows about its existence. Therefore, it will be useful to register a hub on hublist.org, as well as contact the administrators of other file sharing systems to add your hub to their list of hubs-friends.
