It is required to check the modem settings when the device was not detected during installation or there were problems with the connection. Check with the provider, connection difficulties may arise due to inconsistent settings.

Instructions
Step 1
To check the settings, open the "Control Panel" tab, find it through the "Start" button. In the menu you will need the "Modems" icon. Check the model of the modem, the correct name. If this information does not match the installed hardware, run the Add New Hardware Wizard. Make sure the modem is connected - the device will be detected automatically.

If you see a list of devices, select a modem that matches your name, click "Add". If your modem is not listed, try installing a compatible device driver. Check its functionality, the name of your modem should appear in the list of devices. Remove unnecessary ones from the list, otherwise, conflicts may arise between the drivers.
Step 3
Make sure the equipment is available. Open the "Control Panel" tab, then click "System" and find the line "Devices". Select the installed modem and right-click on the icon. Find the line "Properties" in the context menu. Check "Security", "Network", "Access" and make sure the device is working, connect it.
Step 4
To check the port settings, click the Modems icon, select the installed device, and find the Properties button. Next, click on the line "Establish communication" and check the correspondence of the current port settings, look at the name and baud rate.
Step 5
Check the baud rate settings in the "Modems" tab, click on the icon with your device, select the "Properties" line. Then go to the menu and select the "General" tab, set the baud rate according to the capabilities of your modem. Find the values in the user manual supplied with the device.
Step 6
Click on the "My Computer" icon with the right mouse button, select the "Properties" line. Next, go to the "Hardware" menu and click on the "Device Manager" tab. The installed modem will be displayed in the "Modems" line. Please note that the name and type of the modem must match the parameters of your equipment.
Step 7
Click the "Properties" button with the right mouse button - "General" tab. Here you can see the data about your equipment, you can enable or disable the device.
If the hardware is unstable, run the troubleshooting system. Basic information about the driver is located in the "Modem" tab, you can update it, or roll back to a previous version.
Step 8
Pay attention to the tab "Additional communication parameters". By specifying the initialization string, you will ensure the adaptation of the modem to a specific communication channel. The settings are needed for the USB modem. Then go to the "Diagnostics" menu, check the correctness of the modem settings by pressing the "Poll the modem" button. Modem information will be displayed at the bottom of the window.
