If you want to completely uninstall the NOD 32 program, you must delete not only all folders and files associated with it, but also some entries from the Windows registry. You can remove this program using standard methods, but if you cannot do this, you can use additional methods.
Standard deletion
Before using the special methods, you should try to uninstall the program in the standard way using the Windows installer. Close the Nod 32 program. If you cannot do this in the usual way, use the Windows Task Manager and force the process to end. Open Windows Control Panel, then select Add or Remove Programs. Find Nod 32 in the list of installed programs on the system and start the uninstall mode.
Eset Nod32 Removal Tool
If you cannot uninstall the program in the usual way, use a special application to uninstall it - Eset Nod32 Removal Tool. You can download this program for free, it is distributed by many sites. Run this program and wait until it completes. The computer will need to be restarted for all changes to take effect. In most cases, this method will completely remove the NOD 32 program. If it does not help, you need to proceed with manual removal, clean the registry and delete the files associated with the program.
Cleaning the registry
Erroneous changes to the Windows registry can lead to system malfunctions, so it is recommended that you back it up in case of an emergency. Restart your computer in safe mode. Open the start menu and select "Run …" or press the key combination Ctrl + R, in the window that opens, enter Regedit. This will launch the Windows Registry Editor. Then, sequentially delete the following registry keys: HKEYCURRENTUSER / Software / ESET, HKEYLOCALMACHINE / Software / ESET and HKEYLOCALMACHINE / Software / Microsoft / windows / currentversion / run / egui.
Deleting files
Turn on the display of hidden files and folders. To do this, open the "Folder Options", for example, through the "Tools" menu of any folder. Go to the "View" tab, in the list located at the bottom of the window, set the radio button "Show hidden files and folders". Next, go to the C: / WINDOWS / inf folder and delete the INFCACHE.1 file. On Windows 7 and Vista operating systems, this file is stored in the C: / Windows / System32 / DriverStore folder.
Restart your computer again, now in normal mode. Open Windows Explorer, locate and delete the following folders: C: / Documents and Settings / All Users / ApplicationData / ESET, C: / ProgramFiles / ESET, C: / Documents and Settings \% USER% / Application Data / ESET. The system may contain other folders and files of the Nod 32 program, find them using the standard Windows search and also delete. Use Eset as the search key.
