The IP address is used to identify the network connection. Translated from English, IP-address (IP - Internet Protocol) means the address of an individual computer in the network using the Internet protocol. Most users have a dynamic IP address that can change each time they log on to the network. There are a number of ways to determine the exact address number and find out if your IP is static.
Instructions
Step 1
You can determine which IP address you use when connecting to the world wide web by referring to the document on the provision of Internet connections. Find the contract you have entered into with the provider and read it carefully. The point "type of connection" should contain information about which address you are provided with when you connect to the Internet: dynamic or static. However, the number of the static IP address is not always indicated in the contract.
Step 2
Find out the IP address by contacting your ISP directly. Call or write an email to the technical support of the company that provides you with Internet access, and ask for information about your static IP address number.
Step 3
Use the Windows operating system tools to find your IP address. To do this, you need to run the "Configure IP Protocol for Windows" program. Enter the "Start" menu, select the "Run" line in the list on the right and click on it.
Step 4
Type cmd in the window that appears and click on the "OK" button. The cmd.exe file will open, in the command line of which you need to type ipconfig, and then press the Enter key. After completing these steps, you will see in the program window your IP address number, subnet mask number and default gateway number for the current connection. If you have a static IP address, the number will remain the same across all connections.
Step 5
Examine the properties of your computer's current network connection. To do this, go to the "Start" menu, click on the "Control Panel" line and select "Network Connections". In the window that opens, double-click on the connection icon. From the Status menu, select the Support tab, where you will find your IP address number, as well as the subnet mask and default gateway numbers.
