Step 1
Setting up a connection through a proxy server can be carried out using special programs or using standard functions of the Windows operating system. In cases when you need to configure a connection through a proxy server for a large number of programs, change the global connection parameters. Open the start menu.
Step 2
Select "Control Panel". Open the "Network and Internet" submenu and go to "Internet Options". After starting a new window, select the "Connections" tab, select the used Internet connection and click the "Settings" button. Find the item "Use a proxy server for this connection" and check the box next to it.
Step 3
Fill in the "Address" and "Port" fields. If you need to register other addresses for connecting to HTTP, FTP or Socks services, click the "Advanced" button and fill in the appropriate fields. Press the Ok button several times to save the specified parameters.
Step 4
If you want to configure a specific browser to access proxy servers, then change the parameters of the required program. When working with Mozilla FireFox, open the settings menu and select the "Advanced" tab. Click the "Configure" button associated with the "Connection" menu. Highlight the Manually Configure Proxy Service option. Fill in the required fields by specifying the proxy server parameters for each type of connection.
Step 5
To configure a proxy server in the Opera browser, launch this program and press the Ctrl and F12 keys. Wait for the main browser settings menu to launch. Select the Advanced tab and highlight the Network submenu. Click the Proxy Servers button. Fill in the table provided with the required proxy server addresses. Save the parameters by clicking the Ok button. Press the F12 key and in the quick settings menu, activate the "Use proxy servers" item.
