We often hear phrases from Internet users: “I have an account on such and such a server”, “I have got myself a new account”. But what exactly is an account?
The very word "account" comes from the English "account". This is an ambiguous term, the main meaning of which is "account" (for example, facial). There are phraseological units with the participation of this word, for example: do not take into account - do not take into account. In modern Russian, the term "account" is not used in relation to a bank account. They mean an account created by a user on a particular Internet resource. Sometimes you can create one account only if you have another. Namely, when registering on the site, you must enter an email address. Only after receiving a confirmation message and clicking on the link indicated in it, you can start using the new account. And when registering an account with Gmail, you have to use your mobile phone for confirmation. Other resources, on the contrary, allow you not to create a new account, but to use an existing one already available on another site. The latter, of course, should provide such an opportunity. The service for using existing accounts on third-party resources is provided, in particular, by some social networks, and one of these systems - Open ID - was created specifically for this. A local account is created on your own computer. Modern versions of Linux and Windows are multi-user, moreover, in the first of these operating systems, several users can work simultaneously (one - locally, the rest - remotely). Having an account, you must take a number of measures to exclude its use by hackers. Make sure the password is complex. It is especially important to follow this rule with regard to the e-mail address, since it can be used to recover passwords from the rest of the resources you use. You should also beware of fake sites. Outwardly, they are indistinguishable from real ones, and their address differs by only one letter. By entering a username and password into the form on such a site, the user thereby risks forever "presenting" his account to hackers. To avoid this, you just need to take a closer look at the address bar.
