As soon as a local network is created between computers, very little time passes and users begin to actively communicate with each other. The net send application becomes a great helper in communication for them, especially in situations when there is no Internet connection.
Instructions
Step 1
Essentially, the net send application is just a command line interface to the messaging service. It is the messaging service that is responsible for sending and receiving messages. To take advantage of the messaging service and its net send application, you must have a specific version of Windows installed on your computer: 2000, 2003, NT, or XP.
Step 2
Check if Messaging Service is enabled on your computer. To do this, find the "Control Panel", select the "Administrative Tools" section and in the list that appears, click on the "Messaging Service" function. Check if its work status is active.
Step 3
If Messenger Service is enabled, run Command Prompt. To do this, go to the "Start" menu and click "Run". In the window that appears, type "cmd" and press the Enter button.
Step 4
In the console, type the net send command with the required parameters and the message text according to the syntax rules: the net send command, then the computer name or address and the message text. For example, if you want to send a message to the user Petrov over the local network, type "net send Petrov When you come home!".
Step 5
If you want to send the text of a message to all users whose computers are currently connected to you, type "net send / users Stop downloading everyone!" If you want to write a message to all users in the mntu domain, type "net send / domain: nmtu In 10 minutes, the electricity in the whole house will be cut off!"
Step 6
Send a message. All messages received in response will be displayed in the message dialog box. If your computer is running Windows Vista or 7, the net send function will not be available. In this case, install WinSent Messenger, a special instant messaging program, and the Sent console utility as a replacement for the net send command.
