Step 1
Since the Application Data folder is hidden in Windows XP, first enable the display of hidden system directories. To do this, start the control panel, find "Folder Options", or find this item in the properties of any selected folder in the context menu. Then select the option "Show hidden folders and files" and check the box next to it. In the "Folder Options" window, click the "Apply" button, then click "OK".

To find the username, keep in mind that the Application Data folder has any account (user) that is created in the operating system. Because the operating system programs are unpacked, as a rule, on the logical drive C, the desired folder will be located along the path C: / Documents and Settings / user / Application Data, where user is the desired username or the so-called account, for example, "Alexander".

Look for the Application Data folder owned by the administrator in the following path: drive C: / Documents and Settings / Administrator / Application Data. The Application Data shared folder is located at C: / Documents and Settings / All Users / Application Data.

Enter the directory path by logging into any folder and typing the path in the address bar at the top of the screen, then press the Enter button.

If you want to change the username, on the folder to which you want to access, right-click, select "Properties" from the context menu. Then, in the window that opens, click on the "Security" tab and carry out the chain "Additional" - "Owner" - "Change". Select the Administrators group or any account name, click Apply, then OK. Check the Replace Owner of Objects and Subcontainers icon.
