The speed of the Internet connection determines the speed of loading web pages and content, which directly affects the comfort of using the Internet. The higher the speed, the higher the subscription fee for it. You can find out the speed of the Internet in different ways.
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest way to find out your internet speed is to ask your ISP. The declared speed must be indicated in the contract for the provision of Internet access services. As a rule, the name of the tariff has something in common with the speed of incoming traffic guaranteed by the provider. If not, you can find out the speed by contacting technical support by phone or ICQ, as well as by going to the "Personal Account" on the provider's website. However, as a rule, the speed declared by the service provider is slightly different from the real one in one direction or another.
Step 2
You can check the real speed of the Internet using special sites where you can test the speed of the Internet connection. One of the most popular sites of this kind is the Speedtest project. To find out the speed of your connection, visit speedtest.net. It will automatically detect your location by ip address and display it on the map. Select any server on it that is different from yours and available for testing (for example, if you are in Moscow, choose a server located in St. Petersburg) and click the "Start Test" button. The test results will appear in a few seconds and will represent the number of incoming traffic, the number of outgoing traffic and the ping value.
Step 3
You can also check the speed of the Internet using download managers. You can calculate the connection speed by finding out how quickly a particular file is downloaded. Upload speed is usually measured in kilobytes per second. Multiply this number by 8 and get the speed of your Internet connection, for example, when uploading 100 kilobytes per second, the Internet speed is 800 kilobits per second.
