The message "HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error" is one of the most common messages. The appearance of the message can be caused by several reasons, and therefore, the methods for correcting the error will differ. This operation can be performed by a user with sufficient experience in using computer resources.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main menu of the system by clicking the "Start" button to fix the impossibility of loading the Localstart.asp file, which is required by default for the Internet page, and go to the "Programs" item.
Step 2
Expand the "Administration" link and point to the "Internet Information Services" section.
Step 3
Select the "Default Web site" group in the console directory and open the context menu of the Localstart.asp component by right-clicking in the details pane.
Step 4
Specify the "Properties" item and go to the "File Security" tab in the dialog box that opens.
Step 5
Use the Edit command in the Anonymous Access and Authentication section and clear the check box in the new Authentication Methods dialog box.
Step 6
Call the context menu of the website that caused the HTTP 500 error message by trying to use the 500-100.asp file to fix errors on a web page that is not the default web page, right-click and select the "New" item to execute bug fixes.
Step 7
Select the "Virtual Directory" command and click the "Next" button in the "New Virtual Directory Wizard" window that opens.

Enter the IISHelp value in the "Alias" line and confirm the command execution by clicking the "Next" button.

Use the Browse button in the dialog box that opens to select the WINNHelpIIsHelp folder and confirm your choice by clicking Next.
Step 10
Do not change the values in the fields of the "Access rights" window and confirm your choice by clicking the "Next" button.

Click the "Finish" button to complete the operation and return to the "Properties" item of the context menu of the selected website.
Step 12
Go to the Special Errors tab of the properties dialog box that opens and specify the error field 500; 100.
Step 13
Use the Edit Properties button to invoke the Message Type catalog and select the /IIsHelp/common/500-100.asp value in the URL field.
Step 14
Press the OK button to execute the command and confirm the application of the selected changes by pressing the OK button again.
