Often there is a need to determine from which IP-address this or that letter was sent to the e-mail box. This information is contained in the letter itself, so there is nothing difficult to find out. So, go through any browser to your email. To work with email parameters, use the full version of the web interface (not PDA or WAP).

Instructions

Step 1

Open the message with the letter whose sender's IP address you need to find out. For example, if you use Yandex mail, go to the "Additional" section and click "Mail properties".

If you have logged in using the Mail.ru web interface, find the "More" link at the bottom of the page and click on it. In the window that appears, select the "Service Headers" menu.

When using the Gmail mail service, look to the right of the Reply button for the down arrow next to which is the key. Click it and select "Show original".

In other postal services, you can easily find the corresponding item in the drop-down menus or on the page itself.

Step 2

After pressing a certain key, a long text will appear in front of you (usually the web interfaces of postal services open it in a separate tab). Look for a line in the following format: Received: from domain.name (domain.name [mmm.mmm.mmm.mmm]), where mmm.mmm.mmm.mmm is the IP address of the sender of the letter or message.

If there are several lines of this format, look for the IP address in the first of them, except for the situation when it indicates the local address of the computer, for example, starting with 192.168. In this case, look for the IP address you need in the second line. Save the address, close the tab with the text and only then exit the mailbox.

Step 3

If you receive a fraudulent message or it contains any threats, report the IP you found to the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. However, remember that it could have been sent through a proxy server or from a computer whose owner has no idea that his machine contains a virus.

Step 4

Never disseminate information about the received IP-address of the sender of the letter and do not use it to carry out various destructive actions. Do not treat other users the way they did you.
