When you open some websites next to their domain names in the address bar, you can see a small picture - an icon. The same picture will be displayed on the tab with the open page of the site in the upper left corner. An icon is a kind of logo for your site, a distinctive sign, so knowledge of how to install such signs will not be superfluous for a webmaster.
Instructions
Step 1
First, remember that the icon file must have the.ico extension and the name favicon, that is, favicon.ico. In this case, the size of the image must be 16x16 pixels. You can try drawing an icon in Photoshop. Of course, you will succeed in drawing. But to save the drawing in.ico format, you need a special plugin. Place it in the Plug-Ins / File Formats folder located at c: / Program Files / Adobe / Photoshop CS.

Then, after you have drawn the icon and saved it in the desired format, place it in the root of the site. Of course, it is not at all necessary to place the image there. But then you have to specify the path to it:

If your site is created on an engine (for example, on Wordpress), then everything is much easier: again, first copy the file with the icon to the blog root (public_html folder). Then open your header.php file and between the tags and add the following code:

There are also special services for creating icons. One of these is a resource called favicon.cc, a link to which is provided in the Additional Resources section. All you need to do is select the desired color and draw the desired image. Just save your creation and your icon is ready. But you can also convert the finished image to the.ico format. Select the desired image, click on the "Create favicon.ico" button, then download the resulting image.
