Downloading certain files is probably the most common activity on the Internet. If you have your own site on the Joomla platform, and you want to download files on it, you need to use the admin panel. With this CMS you can also make direct links to download files.
Instructions
Step 1
Upload the necessary files to your site using FTP, for which you need to open any FTP manager, for example, Total Commander or Cute FTP. Create a new connection to the server using the corresponding menu item. Enter the details you received to work with files on the website.
Step 2
Create a separate directory for downloading all files, and in it - additional subfolders by type, if desired. For example, you can create a documents folder for documents, music for music, and so on.
Step 3
Go to the control panel by entering the administrator password and login that were set during the CMS installation. The page address looks like https://your_site.ru/administrator. Having successfully entered your username and password, you will find yourself on the main page of the site management.
Step 4
Click on the Content tab to access the content management page. To create a link, enter the following:
Download file.
Step 5
When finished adding new material, click on the "Save" button. The link will be attached to the created or edited post on the page.
Step 6
If you want to upload a lot of files, you can use the scripts and templates available in Joomla's arsenal to greatly simplify and speed up the process of generating links to each file thanks to a special interface for uploading. These utilities include the jDownloads and Whatever Download plugins.
Step 7
To install the selected script or template, go to the "Extensions" item in the admin panel, then select "Install / Remove". Specify in the "Package file" field the path to the file manager on your computer, then click on the "Download file and install" message. It remains to wait until the end of the installation process.
