Searching for and identifying rock carvings in the now cult game RDR 2 is one of the key stages of an interesting secondary in-game activity. It even has its own name - it is "Geology for Beginners". How do I start this quest and how do I complete it?

There is a simple guy in the game who everyone knows as Francis Sinclair. It is this guy who asks the protagonist to find all the rock paintings in the game (and there are 10 of them in the game), scattered in various corners. Most of the cave paintings are depicted on the mountains and on the rocks, and Francis himself does not have any important data on them or their location.

To start the quest, you need to talk to Francis, who is sitting right on the porch of a house located northwest of the city of Strawberry. By the way, the conversation will not work if the main character is wanted, this is important. After the location of all 10 cave paintings becomes known, data about them can be sent to Sinclair by mail.

Where to look for rock carvings

The first image can be found in the Grizzlies West region. In this region, you must go straight north, all the way to Mount Hagen. At the very end of the path, you can find a drawing located on one of the mountain slopes.

The second drawing is generally very easy to find - you just need to get over the wooden bridge stretched across the Whinyard Straight. The second picture is directed towards this river.

The third picture is depicted in the Cumberland Forest location. It is enough just to get to the western part of this location and climb to the very top of the mountain range located there. After that, you need to find a small ledge with which you can get down. And then it's quite simple - just walk a little forward, go around the pine tree and find the third rock painting on the left side.

The fourth figure is located a short distance from Bacchus Station. The player just needs to find a gentle slope with which to climb higher. This slope is located in the south (not far from the southern part of the local small river). After finding the slope, it is enough just to climb almost to the very top and turn onto the ledge. You need to jump on it until the moment when all the green grass disappears.

The fifth picture is also easy to find - you just need to go to the region called Grizzlies East (namely East) and approach the southern side of the Moonstone Pond lake. There is a rock with a pyramid carved on it.

The next, already the sixth image, can be found in a place called Deer Cottage. It is located north of the city of Annesburg. You can find the drawing on a rock located near a flat stone structure.

The seventh image is near the eastern part of the Elysian Pool (the reservoir is located south of the city of Annesburg). The seventh cave painting is slightly larger than all the others, so you can find it without any problems. It will also be visible from the road if you stand with your back to the lake.

The eighth picture is located near the base camp, set up in the northwest side of the station called Flatneck. Looking for a drawing is near the top of the mountain, right on the rock.

The penultimate, ninth picture is hidden in a real mountain range located to the north of Strawberry. When looking for it, you need to look at the giant "T" in the name West Elizabet. When looking for the ninth pattern, you do not need to climb to the top, since it can be found carved into the slope.

And, finally, the tenth drawing is near the very place in which the quest was issued. This is the west coast of Owanjila Lake. The player just needs to stand with his back to this lake to find the picture right on the stone.

How the quest ends

After all the cave paintings have been found, you must contact any post office to send Francis information about their location. Then it is enough just to come to the post office in 2-3 days to receive a reward for the completed quest, as well as an invitation.

What kind of invitation? After a couple of hours, a marker will appear on the game map showing exactly where Francis is. But it is in this place that the mystery of the quest lies - it turns out, according to the residents, Francis Sinclair has been dead for many years. Who then gave the quest?

There is one theory according to which a time traveler could have given the quest, leaving drawings as pointers to where portals might appear.
