When changing their smartphone, many users face the problem of transferring data in messengers, and WhatsApp is no exception. However, the process itself is quite simple and fast.
Backup copy
To begin with, you do not need to rush and remove the old device - you will need to create a backup copy on it in the application, that is, all the preserved correspondence. And this is not so difficult to do.
All data will be stored in the Google Drive cloud service, on which you need to have an account. To register here, you just need to enter your mobile phone number, confirm it and come up with a password for your account.
Then you need to go to the messenger, and then to the "Menu" tab. Then you need to select the "Settings" item, and then go to the "Chats" block.
On the page that opens, you need to select the "Chats backup" item.
It remains only to select the interval for updates (you can choose any other than "Never").
Next, a window opens with all the available email addresses, from which you need to select an available one. If the required account in Google Drive is not there, then you must click on "Add account" and enter all the data from it.
To save traffic, you can click on the "Use" button to select a network - mobile or wireless.
Data recovery
Now you can go to the new device. After installing the messenger from Google Play or the App Store, you need to enter your phone number, to which your account in WhatApp is linked.
As a rule, the program automatically finds a backup copy and offers to resume work with previously written chats with the words "Chat backup found". You just need to click on the green "Restore" button.
The process itself can be long or fast, depending on the speed of your internet connection and the amount of information previously backed up. After the completion of the operation, you can continue to work by clicking on the "Next" button after all the congratulations of the messenger.
How do I delete a backup from Google Drive?
You can delete the backup so that it doesn't take up the already small cloud space on Google Drive. To do this, you need to go to the cloud service, and then go to the "Backups" tab.
All that remains is to select the desired application from the list, hold it down (right-click if deleting from a computer), select the desired "Delete backup" window. After that, it remains to wait a little while the operation takes place, and everything will be ready.
This way, you can easily restore all your conversations and chats to your new device. The only drawback is that the backup copy does not save media files, which means that attachments with pictures, videos or other applications with extensions will not be available and, unfortunately, cannot be restored.
