Many gamers who are just starting to master the wisdom of Minecraft, in particular, the various electrical circuits in it, sometimes wonder why a capacitor can be useful to them. Such a detail does not come across in the gameplay often, and therefore its purpose is not clear. Meanwhile, there is no unambiguous answer to the above question.

Comparator as a replacement for a capacitor in a normal game

In the usual (without plugins and mods) version of Minecraft, there is no such thing as a capacitor. Rather, there is a device that performs its functions, but its name is completely different - a comparator. Some confusion in this regard occurred during the development of such a device. First, in November 2012, representatives of Mojang (the company that created the game) announced the imminent appearance of a capacitor in the gameplay. However, a month later, they already expressed their opinion that this device as such would not exist, and instead of it there would be a comparator in the game.

A similar device exists to check the fullness of the containers located behind it. These can be chests (including in the form of traps), cooking racks, dispensers, ejectors, ovens, hoppers, etc.

In addition, it is often used to compare two redstone signals with each other - it gives a result in accordance with how it was programmed in this circuit, and with which mode is selected for the mechanism itself. In particular, the comparator can enable flame ignition if the first signal is greater than or equal to the other.

Also, sometimes a capacitor-comparator is installed next to the player, connecting it to the input of the latter. When a record is played in a sound reproducing device, the above-mentioned device will produce a signal equal in strength to the ordinal number of the disc.

It is not difficult to craft such a comparator if there is a resource that is difficult to obtain - hellish quartz. It must be placed in the central slot of the workbench, three red torches should be placed above it and on each side of it, and the same number of stone blocks in the bottom row.

Capacitors found in different Minecraft mods

A large number of mods come across capacitors that have very different purposes. For example, in Galacticraft, where gamers have the opportunity to fly to many planets to get acquainted with the realities there, a recipe for crafting an oxygen condenser appears. It is used to create mechanisms such as a breathing gas manifold and accumulator, as well as an airlock frame. To make it, four steel plates are placed in the corners of the workbench, in the center is a tin canister, and under it is an air duct. The remaining three cells are occupied by tin plates.

In JurassiCraft there is a flow condenser - a kind of teleportation that allows you to move to an amazing game world teeming with dinosaurs. To create such a device, six iron ingots must be placed in the two extreme vertical rows, and two diamonds in the middle row, and a unit of redstone dust between them. In order for the device to work, you need to put it on a pig or trolley, and then right-click on it, quickly jumping there. This requires maintaining a high speed of the device.

With the Industrial Craft2 mod, the player has the opportunity to create at least two types of thermal capacitors - red and lapis lazuli. They serve exclusively for cooling a nuclear reactor and for storing its energy and are good for cyclic structures of this type. They cool themselves, respectively, with red dust or lapis lazuli.

The red heat capacitor is made from seven units of redstone dust - they must be installed in the form of the letter P and place a heat sink and heat exchanger under them. Crafting a lapis lazuli device is a little more difficult. To create it, four units of redstone dust are placed in the corners of the machine, a lapis lazuli block will go to the center, two red thermal condensers on the sides of it, the reactor heat sink on top, and its heat exchanger below.

In ThaumCraft, where the emphasis is on real sorcery, capacitors are also used. For example, one of them - crystalline - exists for the accumulation and bestowal of magic. Moreover, what is interesting, it is allowed to create it and many other things only after studying a special element of the gameplay - research carried out at a special table and with certain devices.

Such a capacitor is made from eight dull fragments, in the center of which a mystical wooden block is placed on a workbench. Unfortunately, such a device - as well as its components - existed only until ThaumCraft 3, and in the fourth version the mod was abolished.
