Operating system updates are a good opportunity to upgrade installed programs for free, increase system security and stabilize its operation. So say the developers of one of the most widespread operating systems on earth.
Instructions
Step 1
But there are times when it is not appropriate to allow the system to communicate with the servers. To completely undo Windows updates, go to the Start menu. Click on "Control Panel". Further steps depend on the version of your Windows.
Step 2
If your operating system is Windows XP, select "Automatic Updates" in the Control Panel. Double click on this tab, and a new window will appear with the parameters and settings of updates. In this window, you need to select one of four positions: - automatically (updates are always downloaded and installed into the system automatically, without user assistance); - install updates automatically, but give the user a choice of when to install; - notify the user, but do not download or install updates automatically; - disable fully automatic system updates.
Step 3
So that your system is not updated, i.e. to turn off updates, select the last item. From now on, your operating system will not automatically receive updates until you change these settings. In the "Control Panel" in Windows Vista and newer versions, you need to select the special item "Windows Update". In the window that appears, some commands will be available to you. You must select "Configure Parameters".
Step 4
A new window will open in which you can select the system update mode from the list (similar to the list in Windows XP). It is also possible to disable or set the ability to download recommended but not required updates. To disable automatic updates, select "Do not check for updates" in the list. By clicking "OK", you will confirm your choice.
