To start working with the service, you need to register in it. Go to the SkyDrive website, there is a link at the bottom right of the page. Go to it, the registration form will open. Enter your details, in the "Microsoft account name" field, enter your email address. Choose how to recover your password - by phone or through a security question. Enter the captcha (security code), click the registration button. You will be informed that you need to confirm the registration, for this, enter the mailbox specified during registration, a letter has been sent to it. After confirming your registration, you will be taken to the SkyDrive start page.
Using the cloud storage service is very easy. For example, you want to save a photo. Select one of the folders provided, then click the "Submit" button at the top of the page. After that, find the desired photo in the window that opens on your computer, it will be uploaded to the storage. You can always view the downloaded files, even from someone else's computer, by logging into your credentials. You can also create any folders you need, the file preview option is available.
You can make your files available for general viewing by right-clicking the downloaded file and selecting the "Shared" item in the context menu that opens. In a new window, you can configure access to the selected recipients. The service has many other convenient features - for example, it allows you to edit documents directly in the browser.
The SkyDrive service is very convenient, but it should be understood that your files are stored on someone else's server, therefore, they are potentially available to unauthorized people. Therefore, you should not keep confidential data in the service storage, the leakage of which may have unpleasant consequences for you.
