According to the established tradition, Evgeny Yevtushenko celebrated his birthday in the capital's Polytechnic Museum, where he read his new creations. However, this year the poet was unable to visit Moscow. The reason lies in a recent operation. However, modern digital technologies have helped to stay in touch with their homeland. An online conference was organized, which was broadcast on the RIA. RU portal.

During his creative career, Yevtushenko became not only a poet, but a prose writer, screenwriter and film director. In 1957 he graduated from the Maxim Gorky Literary Institute, and in 1952 he was awarded the unofficial title of the youngest member of the USSR Writers' Union. Evgeny Alexandrovich is one of the brightest representatives of the galaxy of poets - "sixties". At the moment he lives in America, in the state of Oklahoma.

As the poet said during the conference, his "official" anniversary will be celebrated next year. Everything is connected with the fact that his grandmother corrected his year of birth to 1933, so that it would be possible to take Eugene to Moscow without a special pass, as a child under 12 years old.

When asked about his attitude to political events, Yevtushenko almost constantly answered: "Read my poems - everything is said there."

The poet considers Russia his homeland, despite the fact that he lives in the states. As he noted at the conference, "Gogol, and Turgenev, and Tyutchev, and many other writers lived abroad for a long time, which did not prevent them from feeling their hearts as part of their homeland."

Yevgeny Yevtushenko also spoke about how he is working on the "Anthology of Russian Poetry", which poets he chose and by what criterion.

The Russkiy Mir publishing house plans to release several volumes at once by May next year and then hold a number of presentations in large cities of Russia from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.
