An electronic mailbox, like a regular one, can one day become full if it is not emptied from time to time. Although modern email services have mechanisms for filtering spam, some of the junk mail still leaks out. And the messages that were needed in due time turn into virtual "rubbish" over time, from which it is necessary to get rid of.
Instructions
Step 1
Take advantage of the capabilities of the mailbox management interface. If you are used to carrying out all operations with mail on the website of the mail service, then start with authorization, and then go to the page of incoming messages (in English-language services it is called InBox).
Step 2
Select the messages you want to delete. As a rule, to highlight a message in the web interface, you should check the checkbox to the left of the line of the required message. If you need to completely clear the mailbox of absolutely all messages, then it is not necessary to mark each line separately - at the bottom or at the top (depending on the service used) there should be one "main" checkbox. By putting a check mark in it, you will select all the rows of the table with the list of letters on this page. Sometimes the mail interface allows you to fine-tune the selection of letters. For example, in the Google mail service (Gmail), a drop-down list is attached to such a checkbox, with which you can mark all read or, conversely, unread messages. You can select those that you previously noted or vice versa that do not have such "bookmarks". In addition, please note that some services group letters into chains - all correspondence with one addressee and one subject falls into one line of this list. By placing a mark in such a line, you mark all the letters in this chain at the same time.
Step 3
Find the delete button after highlighting all the messages you want. It should be placed above or below the list, depending on the service you are using. In addition to the delete option, most web interfaces have other functions for organizing the box. In Gmail, for example, selected emails can be archived or moved to a specially created folder. Or you can send them to the "Spam" section - this section is automatically cleared by the service after a certain period. After choosing the option of cleaning the box you need, click the corresponding button.
Step 4
If you are using the mail program installed on your computer, the principle of cleaning mailboxes will be the same - you need to select the letters to be deleted and press the Delete button.
Step 5
In addition to this method, the resident program has the ability to use the context menu and hotkeys. For example, in the mail client The Bat, you can right-click the mailbox in need of cleaning and select the "Clear folder" item in the context menu. Or do the same by pressing the CTRL + Del key combination.
