Trolling on the Internet has long been common. These are negative comments containing ridicule, bullying, and even inappropriate requests such as “hit the wall”. All this causes a violent reaction from the public, leads to virtual and sometimes real conflicts.
- According to sociologists and psychologists, almost half of online trolls are sociopaths. In addition, most of them have characteristic personal and biological traits, for example, a tendency to sadism. Many will argue that there must be good reasons for trolling hard. But even they will be difficult to fit into the adequacy format.
- Personal beliefs sometimes border on serious psychological distress. This list includes racism, nationalism, religious discrimination, etc. People armed with "global" ideas become fanatics. And this is already a deviation from the norm.
- Surprising but true! More and more normal people are becoming trolls. And the flurry of negativity can be due to competition in the market or rivalry in achieving a common goal. For example, a company creates a project and launches it for promotion on social networks. At this moment, representatives of a competitive firm are registered under false names and begin to drown this project. As a result, everything turns from simple negative reviews into harsh trolling.
- Bad mood and context can also be sources of internet trolling. In the first case, the scale of the negative is small. A person is simply looking for a way to throw out the accumulated emotions and breaks down with angry comments on any virtual platform. Later, he may regret what he said and even apologize for the harshness. In the case of context, trolling begins with the first negative comment on a note, photo, or article. Then he can be supported by "like-minded people" in the same harsh form, or opponents. But the context will still be negative.
How to fight?
- To get started, you can contact the site moderators. Although they currently track and remove troll comments on their own.
- Ignoring is another effective way to combat trolling. Such people always count on opposition, the reaction of opponents. Even if the trolls have like-minded people, their banter is unlikely to be long.
- You can try to change the context of the discussion, paying attention to other details and questions of the topic. Of course, trolls can appear here too. Then you can continue to ignore.
