The easiest way to connect a laptop to a local network and the Internet is to purchase and configure a Wi-Fi router. The manufacturer can be almost any. Consider only the fact that not all routers work stably under the new Windows 7 operating system.

Install the drivers and software provided with your Wi-Fi router. Connect the laptop to the router using a network cable as follows: insert one end of the cable into the laptop's network card, and the other into the WAN port on the router. Open your browser and type //192.168.0.1 in the address bar. In most cases, the router settings management page will open. If this did not happen, look at the instructions for the router and enter the desired address.
Step 3
Unfortunately, there is no universal method for configuring a router. Remember the basic points that you will need to program the router. 1. The router's Internet access point must match the access point of a standard cable connection.
2. Among the data encryption methods, it is better to choose WPA2, if your router and laptop support it. Otherwise, use WPA or WEP.
3. Be sure to set a password for your router. This will avoid hacking and further problems associated with it.
