The Internet is an integral part of the workflow on a personal computer. You can set up a high-speed ADSL connection yourself by following a few steps.
Necessary
- - modem;
- - fiber optic cable;
- - splitter;
Instructions
Step 1
Choose an operator who will provide you with high-speed connection services. Pay attention to all the points of the agreement, for example, whether the price includes a modem and cable laying inside the apartment. Specify what is the procedure for terminating the contract.
Step 2
Once you've decided on your provider, purchase a modem for your high-speed connection and a splitter to split your line. Buy the required length of fiber optic cable. Crimp the ends with plugs from specialized stores.
Step 3
Connect the network card to the motherboard of your personal computer. Download the drivers from the manufacturer's website and install them. Reboot your operating system for all changes to take effect.
Step 4
Connect the access point to the “LINE” splitter output. Connect a telephone cable to the “telephone” output, and a cable to the “internet” port, which must then be extended to the high-speed connection modem and connected to it. Lay the cable so as to avoid mechanical damage. Connect the modem to the network card in the personal computer.
Step 5
Go to "Control Panel" - "Network Connections". Click on the link "Create a new connection". Now select the item "Connect to the Internet", then - "Set up a connection manually" - "Through a high-speed connection that asks for a username and password."
Step 6
Enter the username and password that are recorded in your agreement. A desktop shortcut will be created. Connect to the Internet through it.
