A smartphone with a built-in camera can be used as a stand-alone webcam, which can be accessed via the Internet. To do this, install the Bambuser program on it. On the computer, you don't need any additional software at all, except for the Flash Player.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure your smartphone is configured with the correct access point (APN). Its name should start with internet, not wap. Subscribe to the service of unlimited data transfer, as their volume will be significant. Never use Bambuser while roaming.
Step 2
Go to the following site: https://bambuser.com Click on the Sign up link and fill in all the fields. Come up with a strong password. Register on the site, if necessary, confirm the registration by e-mail, after which you will enter the site automatically. To log out, click on the Log out link, to log in again - click on the Log in link. In the second case, enter your username and password again.
Step 3
Now download the mobile phone app. It is available for Android, iOS, Bada, MeeGo, Maemo 5, Symbian and Windows Mobile platforms. There are no versions for J2ME and Windows Phone 7 yet. To download the program, go to the following website: https://m.bambuser.com Follow the Download app link, select the phone manufacturer and then its model, and then proceed to download and install the program. How you do these things depends on the platform your phone is running on.
Step 4
Run the program. The image captured by the camera will immediately appear on the screen. In the menu, select the Settings item and configure the program as convenient for you: Camera: Off - disabled (only sound is broadcast), Outwards - main, Inwards - additional, for shooting self-portraits (if available); Video size - allows you to select the image resolution; Video quality: Better flow - low quality at low bit rate, Normal - average value of both, Better quality - high quality at high bit rate; Audio quality: Off - no sound, Normal - normal, High - high; Title - field to enter a title; Visibility: Public - visible to everyone (even unregistered visitors), Private - visible only to you and your friends; Save on server: Yes - store the recording on the server simultaneously with the live broadcast, No - broadcast only live; Send position: No - do not specify geographic coordinates, Yes - specify geographic coordinates; Username / Password: Always ask - ask before each broadcast, Predefined - set in advance; Remember password: No - do not remember the password, Yes - remember the password; Access point - select an access point (APN); Connect on launch: No - do not connect to the Internet immediately after launch, Yes - connect; Check for updates: Yes - check availability of updates, No - do not check; Store completement: Yes - send the contents of the buffer to the server after the end of the broadcast, No - do not send.
Step 5
To view your own or someone else's broadcast, go to: https://bambuser.com/channel/someusername/, where someusername is the username of the channel owner. A list of broadcasts will appear, indicating which ones are live. If you have Flash Player installed on your computer, select the broadcast you are interested in and click on the Play button.
