There are quite a number of techniques that allow a computer administrator to restrict or deny other users access to the Internet. Most of them use standard Windows operating system tools and do not involve third-party software.
Instructions
Step 1
Take advantage of one of the simplest options for restricting Internet access provided by the Windows operating system - open the main menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "All Programs" item. Expand the Accessories link and launch the Windows Explorer application. Go to the save path of the Internet browser you are using and expand its folder. Call the context menu of the executable file by clicking the right mouse button and select the "Properties" item.
Step 2
Go to the Security tab of the dialog box that opens and select the Advanced option in the lower pane. Use the Owner tab of the next dialog box to determine the current owner of the selected file, and click the Change button to set yourself as the sole owner. Apply the check boxes to the required permissions and deny boxes for the selected users.
Step 3
Return to the main menu of the system and call the "Run" dialog to perform an alternative operation of prohibiting the use of the browser for the selected user. Enter the value regedit in the Open field and confirm the command to launch the Registry Editor utility by clicking OK.
Step 4
Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer branch and expand the Edit menu of the top toolbar of the editor window. Specify the item "New" and use the option "Value of type DWORD". Enter disallowrun in the Type field and confirm your selection by pressing the Enter softkey.
Step 5
Open the created parameter by double-clicking the mouse and enter the value 1 in the "Data value" line. Confirm your selection by clicking OK and create a new subsection in the same branch. To do this, call the context menu of the section by clicking the right mouse button and select the "New" item. Select the Key option and enter disallowrun in the Type field. Confirm the application of the changes by pressing the Enter key.
Step 6
Call the context menu of the created parameter by clicking the right mouse button and select the "New" item. Select the "String Value" option and enter a value of 1 in the "Type" field. Confirm your choice by pressing the Enter key and open the created parameter by double clicking. Enter the value browser_name.exe in the Data Value field and apply the changes by clicking OK.
