Laptop owners prefer to create their own wireless access point at home with Internet access. This allows you to keep the main advantage of using mobile devices.
Instructions
Step 1
First select your Wi-Fi router (router). This device must have sufficient signal coverage and must match the specifications for wireless adapters in notebook computers. Read the instructions for mobile devices.
Step 2
If you do not have a paper version of the user manual, then visit the official website of the manufacturer of your laptop model or this wireless adapter. Purchase a suitable Wi-Fi router.
Step 3
Install this device in the desired location. Connect it to the mains. Connect an Internet cable to the WAN (DSL) or Internet connector located on the device.
Step 4
Turn on your laptop or desktop computer. Connect its network card to the Ethernet (LAN) connector of the router. Launch your browser. Fill in the web address field with the Wi-Fi IP address of the router. You can find it in the instructions for the equipment.
Step 5
After logging into the web-based interface of the device, go to the Internet Setup menu (Network settings, WAN). Fill in the required items on this menu. Be sure to specify the password and login for authorization with the provider. If possible, enable NAT and DHCP functions. Save your changes.
Step 6
Now create your own Wi-Fi hotspot. To do this, go to the Wireless Setup menu. Set the password (password) and name (SSID) of your wireless access point. Choose from the offered types of data encryption the one with which your laptops can work. Save the access point settings.
Step 7
Reboot your Wi-Fi router. In some cases, this requires disconnecting the equipment from the mains. Turn on the device.
Step 8
Open the list of available wireless networks on your laptop. Connect this device to the hotspot you created. Use Ethernet (LAN) connectors to connect desktop computers.
