Router or network hub

Instructions

Step 1

Let's consider a situation where a router was used to build your local network. Connect the cable to this equipment using the Internet (WAN) connector. Select any computer or laptop connected to the router via the LAN connector and turn it on.

Step 2

Open your browser and enter the router's IP address into its address bar. The device settings menu will open in front of you. Go to Internet Setup. Fill in the required fields as you would if you were connecting to the Internet from a computer. Enter your username and password, specify the access point to connect to the provider's server.

Step 3

Turn on the DHCP function, save the settings and reboot the router.

Step 4

Now consider a situation where a hub was used to create a network. This equipment cannot be configured to connect to the Internet, much less activate DHCP.

Step 5

Select one of the computers connected to the network hub. Connect an internet cable to it. Configure your Internet connection according to the requirements of your provider.

Step 6

Open the settings of the local network formed by the network hub. On this computer, you only need to fill in one field - the IP address. Enter 192.168.0.1 in it.

Step 7

Go to your internet connection settings. Open the "Access" tab. Allow Internet access to all computers on the local network.

Step 8

Go to any other computer on the same network. Open TCP / IP settings. Enter the IP address 192.168.0. N, where N is any number from 2 to 255. To access the Internet, you need to fill in the "Default gateway" and "Preferred DNS server" fields. Enter the value corresponding to the IP address of the first computer.

Step 9

Repeat the algorithm described in the previous step for all other laptops and computers. Please note that the first computer must be turned on for the rest to access the Internet.
