Adding a weather forecast to the site can be done in two ways: by installing a special weather script on the site or by copying the weather informer code from one of the popular services that provide similar banners for webmasters.
Installing the informer
Integration of the informer code into the site is the easiest way to create a weather report function on the site. Before you start copying the code, decide on the functionality of the weather service on your resource: will the banner display only the current weather for a specific city or the element will give full information about the forecast, depending on the location of the user who came to the site. Among the services that provide free weather banners to webmasters are Yandex. Pogoda, GISMETEO and RP5. Each of these resources represent the settings for the future informer and how the image will look on your resource. You can also choose the desired color scheme, displayed amount of information and banner size.
After choosing a resource suitable for creating a weather service and setting the necessary settings, copy the HTML and JS code obtained in the corresponding text box. This script should be inserted into any page of your site where you would like to enable the display of weather.
To paste the code, open your HTML or PHP page in the text editor you are using. You can also add code through your hosting control panel in accordance with the functions it offers. If you are unsure how to add code, contact your hoster's support team for information on editing web pages through the control panel interface.
After adding the code, save the applied parameters and check the forecast performance on your page. If the counter was added correctly, you will see the banner you configured earlier.
Installation via script
On websites for webmasters, you can also download a ready-made script that will download information from other Internet resources depending on the user's location. The advantage of installing a script is the ability to independently edit and fine-tune it.
Select a script that is suitable in terms of functionality on sites with programs for webmasters. Unzip the resulting package on your computer and run the readme.txt document. Study the instructions for installing the script and follow the indicated instructions. The installation process may vary depending on the features of the written program. However, usually, to create an interface for displaying weather on a resource, it is enough to copy the unzipped script to a separate directory on the hosting, use a browser to navigate to this directory and specify the settings.php file. Once configured, you need to paste the generated code into the page where you want to display the forecast. If the script displays extensive weather information on a separate page, you will need to create a link in the site menu.
For many modern CMS, there are additional modules that allow you to activate the display of weather on the pages. To find a suitable extension, study the catalog of available modules on the website of your site management system or search for the weather extension through the administration panel of your resource.
