Internet access is always accompanied by the creation of a connection to one or another server. Moving from site to site, the user can visit dozens of such machines located around the world. But sometimes it becomes necessary to establish a connection with a specific remote computer.

Step 1
Carefully study the data that you have about this server. To establish a connection, you need to know its ip-address and the port with which the connection will be made. For most servers using the http protocol, port 80 is the default.

Other ports may be open on the server - it all depends on what services are running on it. For example, ftp - port 21, telnet - port 23, SMTP (sending mail) - 25 port, POP (receiving mail) - 110 port, etc. Many of these ports are potentially open for communication, but may require a password when attempting to connect.

How do I know which ports are open on a server? Use a port scanner like Nmap or XSpider to find out. You can search the web for information about other scanners as well. To try, enter 127.0.0.1 into the scanner and try scanning. You will receive information about the ports open on your computer.

The actual scanning process can be carried out in different ways. For example, you can set specific ports for scanning to search for specific services, or you can check all ports completely. After determining which ports are open on the server, you can try to connect to them.

To connect, you need programs that work with the corresponding server services. For example, if port 21 is open, you need an ftp client. With port 23 open, you need telnet. By scanning ports, you can find those used by remote administration programs - for example, Anyplace Control, Access Remote PC, DameWare NT Utilities, RemotelyAnywhere, Radmin, VNC, etc.
Step 6
Once you find an open port, you can try connecting to it. Most likely, you will be asked for a password, but sometimes administrators will not change the default one. For example, for the popular Radmin program (port 4899), the default password is 12345678 or 123456789.
Step 7
There are many programs that allow you to select logins and passwords for such services, but you should know that such activities are illegal and punishable by law. Therefore, work with the ports that the server administrator permits to connect to. For example, ftp - using this protocol, you can successfully download large amounts of data, view files available for viewing. There is a good ftp client in the popular file manager Total Commander.
