Modern resources often have a handy page called "Sitemap". It helps the site visitor to navigate the content of the resource and content if he cannot figure out the menu and navigation. The site scheme facilitates the search for information on the resource for certain sections and provides quick access to them.
Instructions
Step 1
To create a sitemap, first create a new html page. When forming this page, decide whether you need a resource map primarily for your guests, or if it will be a kind of tag cloud for search engines.
Step 2
Think very carefully about the map categories and structure so that people can simply navigate through it. Note the titles of sections and subsections.
Step 3
To facilitate the search for materials according to the scheme, provide a brief description and content of the sections. If new categories appear on the resource or the structure changes, do not forget to reflect the changes in the resource map by updating it.
Step 4
If, when creating a sitemap, you are guided mainly by search engines, make a diagram in xml format. There are many xml generators, they are not hard to find on the world wide web. For example, use the service located at xml-sitemaps.com.
Step 5
Enter the site address in the input field, click on the "Start" button and wait while the service processes up to 500 pages for you free of charge. If your resource is small, this is quite suitable for the capabilities of the service, and it will create a suitable map for you in xml format.
Step 6
Save the resulting file in the root directory of the resource on the server.
Step 7
To create a sitemap on Google, register a webmaster account there, go to the section called Sitemap, then provide a link to the xml-map page address. Yandex operates the same system.
