Cat - from the English "cut" - a blog function that allows you to hide most of the text of the message. As a result, only the headlines and announcements of posts are displayed on the first page of the blog, and the full texts are opened by clicking the "Read more" link or similar. Each blogging platform uses a specific code to hide the text under the cat.

Step 1
There are two types of kats used in LJ. Standard tags: hidden text - instead of the truncated text, the text will be displayed: “Read more” in brackets. If you plan to insert another word, use the tags: Hidden Text.
Step 2
A post on the Ya.ru blog service can be formatted with the following tags: Text under the cut </cut>. In this case, the word “More” will be displayed on the start page. If you want to use a different word, expand the tags to this combination: Text under the cut </cut>.
Step 3
If you don't get along with the HTML language, you can also design a cat in Ya.ru through a visual editor. To do this, select the appropriate type of message, open the "With registration" mode. Select the "Insert Frame" option. Select the text that you want to remove under the cut, and click the "Insert frame" command. In the field, insert the text that will be displayed on the announcement page. Click the View What It Happens or Publish command.
Step 4
In other services, the principle of working with a cut is similar. If you cannot find or pick up HTML codes for the cut, it is incomparably easier to figure it out in the visual editor. Use functions with corresponding names.
