Sometimes it becomes necessary to perform some operations with a computer that is far from you. You can establish a connection between two computers so that the desktop and programs of the other are displayed on the screen of one of them. Such a connection is feasible if you set up a remote desktop over the Internet. You will be able to control the actions of another computer, regardless of the distance that separates you.
Instructions
Step 1
Configure the ability to access the managed computer. Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop of the machine to which you want to connect. Select the "Properties" item from the menu and left-click on it. Select the "Remote Sessions" tab and check the boxes "Allow remote access to this computer" and "Allow sending an invitation to remote assistance". Then click the Select Remote Users button. A window for selecting accounts for accessing the computer will open.
Step 2
Click the "Add" button and the "Advanced" button in the window that opens. Click on the words "Search". Select the name of the required account with the left mouse button and press the OK button to add it to the list of allowed for connection. Click OK again to save the list of users and click again to close the Remote Desktop Session Rights dialog box. Click the Apply button and close the Computer Properties window. Please note that your account must be password protected. This completes the actions with the "slave" computer.
Step 3
Find out the network address of the computer to which you will connect. This can be done using online services, for example, you can open the site https://2ip.ru/ in your browser - it will immediately display the ip-address of the machine from which you entered the site. It remains to pass this address to the person who wants to contact your computer. Also provide the username and password to access the PC.
Step 4
Click the "Start" button and select the "Run" menu on the computer that will connect to the remote desktop via the Internet. Enter the mstsc command and press the Enter key. A window will open asking you to specify the address of the computer to which you want to connect. Also, this utility can be called from the "All Programs" menu, the "Standard" group - the shortcut is signed: Remote Desktop Connection. Type in the ip-address and click the "Connect" button or the Enter key. If the PC you are connecting to is turned on and available, you will see an authorization window.
Step 5
Enter the username and password that are listed as allowed to connect and control the target computer (see step 2). After that, an image of the remote desktop of the computer to which you connected via the Internet will appear on the screen.
