As a rule, creating a website and registering a domain name for it is one indissoluble process. But the situation when a domain is registered separately, and then it becomes necessary to somehow place it on the network, or tie it to an existing site is also not uncommon.

Step 1
If you already have a domain, but you are not yet ready to launch your own website, you can use a service called domain parking. Both hosting providers and domain registrars have this option. This mechanism works in this way - if someone types the name of the parked domain in the address bar of the browser, then the server of the company providing this service redirects him to the page or site specified by you. This can be a hoster's advertising page or your own page, the space for which will be provided along with the parking service. And you can redirect to any existing on the network your own or someone else's site (for example, placed on another, free hosting). In this case, several redirect options are possible - with saving the name of the parked domain in the address bar, or full redirection to a new address. Along with this service, you will receive a regular email address on your domain.
Step 2
The parking procedure itself is not complicated - as a rule, you can arrange it together with the domain registration. If the domain name is registered in one place, and you order the parking service in another, then at the place of domain registration you need to specify the addresses of the DNS servers used by the parking service.
Step 3
If the site already exists, and you do not need parking, but you need to link the existing site to its new domain name, then this will be a two-part procedure. The first task is to inform the hosting company's DNS servers that when you request your new domain, visitors should be sent to your old site. To do this, in the administration panel of the hosting company, you need to add a new domain name. Unfortunately, there is no single standard on the hosting control panel, so if you cannot add a domain yourself, contact the technical support of your hosting company.
Step 4
The task of the second part of the operation of linking the new domain to the old site is to let the domain registrar know that requests with the new address must be redirected to the DNS servers of your hoster. You can find out the addresses of the primary and secondary servers of your hosting in the information section of the site, in the control panel, in an information letter about opening an account, or simply by asking technical support. Addresses must be entered in the appropriate fields of your registrar's domain control panel. After this is done, the new domain will start functioning no later than three days later. In practice, however, this usually happens after 2-3 hours.
