Hostings provide the ability to create sites on Joomla. This system is replete with many themes and templates, so even a beginner can easily cope with creating a design for their resource. However, if you decide to write your own unique template, then here you will not face any particular difficulties.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the templates folder and create the index.php and templateDetails.xml files in it, you also need to add the template.css file in the css folder. To do this, you can use a regular text editor or notepad, and then change the extension in the file manager. If the hosting server already has these files, then you do not need to create new ones, just edit the existing ones using the built-in manager.
Step 2
Fill in the created files with the necessary information that will fully correspond to the tasks set. The index.php file is responsible for the location of the generated template and modules, and also marks the path to the Stylesheet file. All information about the template is specified in the templateDetails.xml file, and the appearance of the site is described in the template.css file.
Step 3
Write a template for the site and save the data in the template.css file. After that, load the page in a browser to check the result. It is also recommended that you use several popular browsers to validate the template to identify any potential compatibility issues during development.
Step 4
Open the dialog for adding templates and upload its files to the administrative panel of the site. Check the box next to "Default" to set this template as the default on the site. This way your template will be stored in the css folder. If you want to share your development with other web designers, you can always copy this file and post it on your website or file hosting for download.
Step 5
Use Front Page or another application to create templates. This method is suitable for those who are not good at web programming, but want to create their own design for the site. The software is fairly straightforward and easy to use.
