Almost all modern games are customizable for the display and its resolution, but those who like to play arcade or old games may face the problem of full-screen play. There are 5 ways to play in full screen mode.

Hotkeys

In some games, both old and new (like WoT), you can switch to full screen by pressing the Enter and Alt key combination. This same combination allows the game to return to windowed mode.

Launch parameters

In some games, the properties of the game shortcut and the "-window" parameter are responsible for starting in window mode. This parameter can be written in the "Object" line in the properties of the shortcut. All you need to do is remove this inscription. You can also try in the properties of the shortcut to go to the compatibility tab and select launch with add-ons suitable for earlier versions of the operating system.

Setting up the video card

Sometimes the game cannot start and run in full screen mode due to outdated or incorrect video card drivers. This problem is solved by either updating the drivers or reinstalling them. In order to do this, it is necessary, depending on the manufacturer of the video card, to perform the following steps:

  1. Nvidia. Open the control panel, select the nVidia section and, already in it, adjust the scaling. When enabled, the game will need to expand to display options.
  2. ATI. Launch Catalyst Control Center and perform similar actions.

In most cases, if the problem concerns the video card, these problems are solved just by changing the scaling parameters.

Setting up the game

Everything is quite simple here - you need to go to the settings of the game running in window mode and find in the settings the item that is responsible for launching either in full screen or in windowed mode. After that, you need to make the appropriate changes and restart the game.

Also, a similar parameter, especially if the game is old, can be found in the corresponding Launcher file, which is located either in the start menu (in the game directory), or in the folder with the game installed.

In this case, the game will not be important for which operating system or for which resolution it needs to adjust.

Change of permission

In the event that all the methods listed above have not yielded any results, the game may be too old to run on modern operating systems.

In this case, there is only one way to solve the problem - to change the resolution of the screen itself. Of course, after this, other programs that actively use graphic resources will stop turning on, but no one will prevent the user from returning their native resolution after playing the classics.

And, of course, you should not bypass those fans who either improve old games, adjusting them to new screen resolutions, or create special patches for this.
