Telltale Games is an independent computer games publisher whose name has been on everyone's lips in recent years. The company was founded in 2004, but it has been around for years since, perhaps, 2010, when Telltale representatives announced that they had obtained licenses from NBC Universal to develop games based on the unforgettable films "Jurassic Park" and "Back to the Future." And in February of the following year, it became known about the beginning of the development of a game based on the series The Walking Dead in cooperation with Warner Bros. Entertainment.

In my humble understanding, the top 5 games from Telltale Games should look like this.

Game of thrones

The brainchild of the American HBO channel, Game of Thrones is perhaps one of the bloodiest TV series in recent years. Watching this series, there is practically no point in choosing your favorite among the numerous characters, since he will probably be killed soon. In the game based on Game of Thrones, the characters die much less often, but no less bloody, and sometimes even tearfully break through. As for the comic moments that TTG often dilute their creations with - there are none here, since the characters of "Game of Thrones" are not joking … not at all.

The protagonists of this game from Telltale Games are three representatives of the small and not at all ambitious, but desperately fighting for the survival of the Forrester clan. The fighters of them, frankly, are not so hot, so you will often have to achieve your goals through conversations and all sorts of tricks, rather than battles. Although the Forrester's house was not featured in the series, do not worry - you will also meet long-familiar characters as the game progresses, such as Tyrion Lannister.

Tales from the Borderlands

Unlike the previous creation of the game industry, in Tales from the Borderlands murder is presented with humor and a sort of ease as an integral and, perhaps, the main component of the gameplay. The protagonist of this Telltale series is a specialist in humor - he manages to joke, even being bound and helplessly lying on the ground. By the way, Tales from the Borderlands is one of the few games that is based on another game, namely Gearbox Software's Borderlands series.

The graphics in TFTB are cartoonish, quite pleasing to the eye, in fact, as in the creations of the aforementioned Gearbox Software.

Tales of monkey island

Released back in 2009, this game won the hearts of fans of the Monkey Island series from LucasArts, from which it was created. 9 years after the release of Escape from Monkey Island, fans of the series had the opportunity to get acquainted with the new adventures of good old Guybrush Threepwood - a young but already rather famous pirate, who, however, still has not stopped getting into ridiculous situations.

So this time the story begins with one embarrassment. Rescuing his beloved from the clutches of the evil ghost pirate LeChak, the young man successfully turns his enemy into an ordinary person, but at the same time releases the witch's smallpox into the world, which spreads across the West Indies, turning numerous pirates inhabiting it into zombies. And now, in order to stop the infection, Guybrush has to embark on a dangerous journey to find a magic sea sponge on behalf of the Voodoo Lady …

Tales of Monkey Island is a pure quest full of puzzles and riddles, which is also full of healthy humor. However, the same can be said for all other parts of the franchise.

The walking dead

One of the best creations of Telltale Games, imbued with the atmosphere of the series through and through. And even the fact that you will not find anyone from the heroes of the series and comics here (unless Glenn and Hershel Green, and even then as episodic characters) does not in the least repel the fans of The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead: The Game begins with a certain Lee Everett being taken to a prison in a police car and having an accident. And it just so happened that just at these very hours, a fatal infection is already spreading across the planet. Waking up in the forest, the poor fellow stumbles upon his first zombie, which, with grief in half, but still kills. Soon he meets a girl named Clementine, who is waiting for her parents' return all alone. Now Lee needs not only to survive on his own, but also to save young Clementine, and along the way also to reunite her with her parents, if it's not too late.

Back to the Future: The Game

As you already understood, the main character of the Back to the Future game is the 17-year-old young man Marty McFly. However, the game developers decided not to repeat the events of the film (and rightly so), but to present to our attention a completely different story.

Marty, still not accustomed to the idea that his friend Doc is missing, has a strange dream that he is again present at the first test of DeLorean and videotaped him. However, this time the car does not return to the present, as Brown planned, and the dock himself disappears from reality with the words "I made a terrible mistake …".

Or is it not a dream, but a memory of what happened a year earlier? Considering the fact that Biff Tannen is afraid of Marty's father, we come to the conclusion that the events of the film took place in the game world, and George was able to put Biff in his place in his youth (as in the first part of the film). But what kind of dream did Marty have then? Obviously the dock is stuck somewhere in the past and can't go back. And how to save him without DeLorean? Luckily for Marty, a time machine suddenly appears next to the dock house, and the young man sets off in search of his friend back to the future.

We must pay tribute to the developers: their imagination is really rich: they managed to create an interesting quest, where there are unexpected plot twists, and original riddles, and a little humor. And where can we go without it?

Additional Information:

It is noteworthy that all of the above games are available not only on PCs and game consoles, but also on smartphones. So, if you have a smartphone running iOS or Android, you can play your favorite Telltale Games games even at work, somewhere on vacation or in the restroom, sitting on the toilet and simultaneously thinking about the global problems of humanity. The exceptions are Back to the Future and Tales of Monkey Island, which, alas, did not reach Android. If you have an iPhone, you can safely download them and play for your pleasure.
