Typically, the terms of reference for the site is drawn up in joint work by the developer and the customer of the site. To draw up the correct technical task, try to clearly and with the maximum level of detail discuss the future project with the customer. The customer will accept the finished website on the basis of the terms of reference.

The terms of reference should consist of several sections. You should start with the purpose of creating a site and its purpose. Briefly describe the customer's enterprise: philosophy, principles, field of activity, market segment occupied. Indicate what the site is for, formulate the goal that the organization wants to achieve with its help. Describe in detail the target audience: gender, age, preferences, geographic and social position of site users. Specify the most preferred visitors: customers, real and potential partners, buyers of the online store, etc.

The next section is the content of the site. Indicate in it a list of materials and texts that will make up the content of the site, its content. This can be information and articles about the company, articles about products, photographs. All materials and texts necessary for the development of the site, as a rule, are provided by the customer.

In the section describing the functionality, indicate the necessary requirements for the compatibility of the site with different browsers, for its design, the ability to edit information and administer the site. Describe the way to navigate the site, providing all the necessary menus and tabs. For example, such: "registration" "news", "promotions", menu item "products", "catalog", "service", "product reviews", "feedback", "invitation to cooperation", etc. Specify how this or that tab will work, how many lines the drop-down menu will consist of, which pages will lead to clicks on specific links, etc. A well-written technical assignment will allow you to clearly imagine how the finished site will look after launch, and this will speed up and facilitate the process of its development.
