Step 1
Get a Wi-Fi router. This is not a required device for setting up a wireless network, but this is the easiest and most convenient method. Select a router based on the capabilities of your laptop and the required signal coverage area.

Connect your laptop to the router using a LAN network cable by inserting it into any free slot except the main one. In the address bar of your browser, type //192.168.0.1. The settings of the router will open in front of you. Set a password to access the router settings. Enter the parameters of the Internet connection, guided by the requirements of your provider.
Step 3
Open the wireless settings in the Wi-Fi router. Specify the desired data transfer and encryption options. It is best to use an 802.11n network with WAP-PSK or WPA2-PSK encryption. This network supports high speed data transmission over long distances, and encryption is considered the most reliable. Be sure to enter a complex password consisting of Latin letters and numbers.
Step 4
Reboot the router by turning off the power for 20 seconds. Go to the search for wireless networks on your laptop, select the network you recently created and connect to it by entering the password.
