Terms of Reference, or TK, is a document that describes in detail all the wishes and requirements of the customer for the project. Drafting it allows you to avoid omissions and disagreements in the process of interaction between the client and the contractor. In addition, often a competently drafted TOR reduces the time required to complete the task.
It is necessary
- - paper;
- - pen or pencil;
- - any text editor.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a pen and a piece of paper. A technical assignment for web design is not a strict document that is drawn up only in accordance with certain rules, but in order to get a clear idea of how the site should look, it is worth writing down your thoughts on paper. In addition, the written and correctly executed TK, in contrast to what was expressed orally, will save in the future from possible conflict situations.
Step 2
Indicate the type of the future site (it can be an online store, a business card site, a news portal, an online encyclopedia) and its target audience. If you are ordering a website design for a company, briefly describe what it does.
Step 3
If possible, draw by hand the structure of the page of the future site. To do this, it is not at all necessary to have artistic skills, all that is required is to indicate where the company logo will be located, visually present the menu of the main page, its main blocks (header, page text, contact information, directions, etc.). At the same stage, sketch out the site template in a few words: how many columns with text are supposed to be, whether the page will be of a fixed width or is it supposed to have a "rubber" layout.
Step 4
Prepare color options for the site. If it is created for a company that has certain corporate colors, it makes sense to use them to create designs. If it is necessary to display a logo on the site, prepare its layout for the designer or express your wishes for its rendering.
Step 5
As examples, you can specify several sites whose design or layout you like. While performing this step, be sure to indicate exactly what you like on this or that resource so that the designer does not misunderstand your requirements.
Step 6
In order to avoid controversial situations, in the terms of reference, you can indicate the period during which the designer is obliged to provide you with a layout of the future site. However, no matter how you would like to speed up the process, do not forget that this period must be objective.
