The password is set on almost all network devices to ensure security and the D-link router is no exception, but this is quite problematic.
D-link routers are quite popular and in demand. Their cost is not capable of hitting the pocket, while their characteristics are able to impress many. Unfortunately, users of personal computers with similar routers may face a number of different problems, including password changes. It will be quite problematic for a novice user to do this, since in order to make changes to the operation of the router, you need to go to a special web interface.
Changing the system password and password for logging into the web interface
The password can be changed only in this web interface and it is simply impossible to do it somehow differently. To enter the web interface of the D-link router, you need to open any convenient browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar (depending on the model, the address may change, for example, to 192.168.1.1). If everything goes well, the system will ask you to log in, that is, enter your password and username. If they have not changed, then you should enter admin in both the "Username" and "Password" fields. This password and username are factory defaults. If desired, the user can, of course, change them.
After logging in, a corresponding message will appear, which looks like this: “The default password is now set. For security reasons, it is recommended to change the password.”. If the user confirms the change of the password, a new window "Set system password" will open. Here the user can set a new name and a new system password. It should be noted that as a result, both the system password and the password for entering the web interface will be changed.
Changing the encryption key
If there is a need to change the password directly on the Wi-Fi access point itself, then it is done in the same web interface. After entering, you need to go to the Wi-Fi menu, and then select the "Security Settings" item. Here, the user can not only change the login password, but also the encryption method, the type of network authentication, and more.
The most optimal settings will be the following: encryption type WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK mixed, the encryption key is set by the user, WPA encryption is TKIP + AES.
In order for the changes to take effect, you must click on the "Change" button, and then "Save". This completes the password change procedure.
