An essential function of a modern browser is bookmark storage. For this purpose, it uses a specially designated disk space. It can be either a single file or a whole folder with many small files.
The Opera browser stores bookmarks in a file called bookmarks.adr. It can be opened with a regular text editor, but manual editing is not recommended. Its location depends on the operating system: on Linux, in the.opera folder (with a period in front of the name) located in the user's working folder (for example, / home / username, where username is the user's name), and on Windows, in the C folder: Documents and SettingsUsernameApplication DataOperaOpera, where Username is the username. The Cyrillic encoding in the bookmarks.adr file is usually Unicode. Firefox developers preferred to use an HTML file for storing bookmarks. It is called bookmarks.html. On Linux, it is stored in the /home/username/.mozilla/default/cccccccc.slt/ folder (hereinafter username or Username is also the name of the user's personal folder), and on Windows, in the C: Documents and SettingsUsernameApplication DataMozillaFirefoxProfilescccccccc.default folder. In both cases, cccccccc is a randomly generated character set when Firefox is installed. In the browser settings, the location of the bookmarks file can be changed to arbitrary. In the Chrome browser, bookmarks are stored in the Bookmarks file (with a capital letter) without the extension. On Linux, it is located in the /home/username/.config/google-chrome/Default/ folder, and on Windows - in the C folder: Documents and SettingsUsernameLocal SettingsApplication DataGoogleChromeUser DataDefaultInternet Explorer differs from most other browsers, firstly, in that the version for Linux, it does not, and secondly, because it stores bookmarks not in one large file, but in a set of many small ones. They are all located in the C: Documents and SettingsUsernameFavorites folder. In some versions of the Windows operating system, the Favorites folder is called Favorites in Russian.
