Create a mail folder. This can be done on any partition of the hard drive, but it is better to use one that will not affect, for example, reinstalling the system. This is especially true if you are going to save very important emails.

Open the letter in your mail client. Find the very first tab in the top menu of the program. In Outlook Express it is "File", in The Bat it is "Letter". Find the "Save As" function. If the letter is without attachments, click on the corresponding line with the mouse. A window will appear in front of you prompting you to choose a place where you want to keep your important emails. Select the desired directory and save in the desired format. In some clients, this can be either postal or text format.

It is better to keep the attachment separately. The corresponding option is in the same tab. For attachments, you can create a separate folder or save them in the same place as the letters themselves.

If you want to keep your own sent email, proceed in exactly the same way. Find the indicated tab, and in it - a proposal for what to do with your message.

When working with the web interface, the situation is somewhat different. You can download the attachment in the same way as any other file from the Internet. Open the email with the attachment through a browser. Somewhere near the attachment name (usually underneath it) you will find a link “Save attachment”, “Download” or something like that. Click on it. In the window that opens, select a directory on your computer intended for such files, and save what was sent to you. It can be very useful to check the content for viruses.

As for the text itself, it is not always possible to select the desired letter from the general mass in order to save it in a separate folder, at least on the server. Rambler provides such an opportunity, on most other mail servers there is once and for all a specific set of folders. Therefore, it is best to keep important correspondence on your computer. Open the letter. Select the text. Stand with the mouse on the selection and right-click. Select the "Copy" option.

Open any text editor. Paste into it what you copied to the clipboard. Save the document under a short but understandable title and in a format that is convenient for you.
