Today, almost everyone in the house has their own wi-fi access point (as a rule, it is closed). Let's consider how to connect the Internet via a wi-fi router.
Stage 1 - connecting and configuring the router
Initially, you should connect the router to the power supply, and, if necessary, install all the necessary drivers.
1. Turn on the power key located on the back of the router. After that, the lights should light up.
2. The Internet cable should be connected to the socket of the router marked WAN. If the connection is correct, you will hear a characteristic click.
3. If you need a cable to connect to a computer, you can connect it to any socket on the router.
Then you can directly start setting up wi-fi.
Stage 2 - setting up wi-fi
The most common method today is to use a USB wi-fi adapter. Let's look at the example of the Windows 7 operating system.
1. For the best possible signal, plug the adapter into the front socket. But if it is not possible, then it is better to connect it from the back to the top connector.
2. To improve the signal, you can use the extension cord that comes with your router. Then the wireless connection on the computer is turned on.
3. Enter "sete" into the command line. In the highlighted window, go to the "View network connections" tab. This section must have an active wireless connection. Otherwise, right-click on the connection icon and enable.
4. Many laptops have specific commands on hotkeys. They can be used when connected to wi-fi. For example, some Dell laptop models connect to the network by pressing Fn + F2.
5. Now you can easily use the Internet on your laptop via wi-fi.
Thus, setting up the Internet via wi-fi is quite simple. The most important thing is to correctly connect the router in order to avoid various problems in the future.
Also important is such a factor as the tariff: after all, the data transfer speed depends on it, and, accordingly, the range of user capabilities.
