Step 1
Several methods can be used to isolate a group of computers from the main local network. Disconnect any required computers from network hubs or routers. Reconnect other computers in such a way as to free up the required number of network devices. As a result, you should get one or more unused switches.
Step 2
If they are not enough, purchase more network hubs. With their help, create a new local area network, consisting of those computers that you separated from the main network.
Step 3
This method, unfortunately, does not allow using a common router with Internet access for both networks at the same time. If you need to retain the ability to access the World Wide Web, reconfigure the network adapters of the required computers.
Step 4
Open the list of network connections of one of the selected PCs. Go to the properties of the network card connected to the router or switch. Highlight "Internet Protocol TCP / IP" and click the "Configure" button.
Step 5
Modify the Subnet Mask field. In this situation, it is better to abandon the use of template values, such as: 255.255.255.0 and 255.255.0.0. Change the subnet mask of other computers in the same way. Naturally, the value of this field should be the same for all PCs.
Step 6
Open the router settings menu. Select the Routing Table or Routing Table menu. Set new parameters for the device, taking into account the value of the subnet mask.
