Step 1
Try to split all your computers equally between the two switches. This will allow you to avoid some difficulties when connecting new computers in the future. For example, if all ports are occupied in one switch, and the second is half empty, then you will not have options for a new connection. And it is far from always convenient to pull cables to a specific place.
Step 2
Make sure all computers on both LANs have different IP addresses. This is very important because IP address conflicts can occur, which can lead to unstable computers on the network.
Step 3
If the computers of both local networks have access to the Internet through different routers, routers or servers, then keep in mind that after combining the networks, you only need one device to access the Internet. Reconfigure the "Default gateway" and "Preferred DNS server" settings in the properties of the local network.
Step 4
Combine two switches of different local networks. To do this, insert the different ends of the network cable into the free slots on the switches. If you have managed ports, it’s better not to occupy them, because you will not be able to configure them anyway.
