There are a number of reasons why a webmaster is willing to change hosting, regardless of the number of sites they administer. These are more favorable conditions, a bulletproof server, emergency technical support, etc. Moving sites takes a significant amount of time, so this issue should be taken very seriously.

It is necessary

  • - accounts on hosting;
  • - ftp manager.

Instructions

Step 1

Of course, if possible, it is recommended to use technical support services: they will help you transfer sites absolutely free of charge, however, you will have to wait a while. Unfortunately, not every hosting provider can boast of such services.

Step 2

The domain of the site being transferred must be added to your account on the new hosting. To do this, go to the web panel and in the "Domains" section select the "Add" or "Bind" option (the names may be different for each hosting). Then you need to change or enter the names of dns servers, usually they look like this: ns1.site.ru, ns2.site.ru, etc.

Step 3

The dns address cache will change for several hours. In order not to waste time, prepare an archive of your site files, as well as a database. Some hosters have special tools, for example, an ftp client built into the control panel. This option will allow you to copy the necessary files several times faster than a local client downloaded from the Internet.

Step 4

For copying, you can use any ftp client, in the settings of which you need to specify the login, password and IP-address of the connection. Once connected, select the directory where your site is located and copy all of its contents to your hard drive. It is recommended to create a directory of the same name for each site on the hard drive.

Step 5

Now you need to copy the MySQL database to your computer. To do this, in the web panel, select the "Databases" section and click on the PhpMyAdmin item. On the loaded page, pay attention to the left column - this contains the names of all databases. Select the one you want by clicking on it. On the right side, select the "Export" tab and click on the "OK" button.

Step 6

On the new hosting, you need to create a new database and import the file from your hard drive. For a quick solution to this issue, it is better to use the special tool "MySQL Database Wizard". You will be required to enter the name of the database to be created and a password that can be generated randomly. With the database open, go to the Import tab and open the file from your hard drive.

Step 7

It remains only to copy the site files to the new hosting. To do this, use the same ftp client. After a few hours, your site will become available and will be displayed in all browsers.
