Unfortunately, sometimes for reasons beyond the control of the webmaster, the site is lost. Whether it was a hosting drop or a hacker attack, it doesn't matter, problems always arise unexpectedly and you need to be prepared for them, have a backup copy of the site in stock and have the knowledge to restore it. After all, not only a lot of time and effort is invested in the resource, but also money, which is very bitter to lose because of your irresponsibility. Site recovery is easiest to consider using the example of CMS Joomla and the Akeeba Backup component.

It is necessary

Computer, Internet access, installed Akeeba Backup component, site backup

Instructions

Step 1

Update the Akeeba Backup component. To do this, go to the administration panel, check if there are updates, and be sure to perform an automatic installation, if any. Next, you need to get the Kickstart backup catalyst. Download the latest version of the Akeeba Kickstart archive from the official website akeebabackup.com and unzip it to your computer.

Step 2

Prepare all files for site recovery. Copy the latest site backup to your computer. To do this, connect to the site via FTP and go to www / site_name / administrator / components / com_akeeba / backup /. Make sure that before starting the recovery you have on your computer: the backup file (has the.jpa extension) and the Kickstart folder from the downloaded archive. After that, upload from your computer to the root directory of your site all the files from the Kickstart folder (files, not the entire folder) and the backup file.

Step 3

Perform site recovery. To do this, enter www.site_name / Kickstart into the address bar of your browser. A page with information about the Akeeba Backup component will open on the screen. Scroll to the bottom and click on the link at the bottom of the text. On the page that opens, click "Start" (big green button) without changing anything in the settings. Wait until the "Run Installer" button appears (looks the same). On the next page that opens, make sure that the entire list says "Yes" everywhere. This completes your work on recovery, all you have to do is click on the Next button when the installer asks about it, and at the end of the installation you will need to confirm the deletion of the installation files.
