Step 1
Open the Avast user interface, for example, using the context menu, through the program icon.

Click "scan my computer". The program will provide you with several scanning options: "express scan", "full scan", "scan removable media", "select a folder to scan". Choose the option that suits you and scan individual folder (s) or drive (s).
Step 3
Some viruses are difficult to detect with a scanner, especially if they have already infiltrated Windows, system files and folders. To detect and get rid of the virus in this case, in the "scan your computer" menu click "scan at startup". And then, opposite the "current state", click the "schedule" button. All disks, including the system one, will be scanned during computer startup.
Step 4
When a virus is detected, Avast will offer you several options: delete the file, move to quarantine, do nothing, etc. The most guaranteed way to get rid of viruses is, of course, complete removal.
